Use Shopartgallery To Get More Visibility in Google Images Search

Can you get more visibility for your images in Google search using Shopartgallery? Was the main question we ask when we designed this site. The more sites linking to your images, the better your images will be ranked in Google images search and more visitors will receive back from the search engine users.

Shopartgallery.com beneficiates of an effective SEO (search engine optimization), which helps improving the visibility of your images. But SEO is not enough if you don't have accurate and proper titles, descriptions and keywords for your images! At Shopartgallery we don't modify the informations you fill for each photo. You are completely responsible for this. To fill the right informations under your images in order to make them come out in a good position in Google search you need to know how Google ranking works and how you have to tag and describe your pictures. If your images has proper titles, captions and keywords they have also better opportunities to be found by the search engine. Effective keyword use in your image’s file name as well as in its “alt text” tag (in our case Alt text is automatically taken from title) can do a lot for telling Google exactly what your file is about. This is the most important thing which you can do. The keywords around your image are next in terms of importance.

The title of your photo is the same important, that's why MUST contain some keywords. Let's say you have a photo representing a Dalmatian Dog. You will not name that photo "Dalmatian Dog" or "Dog".  Instead you could try and focus on more specific title like "Big Dog Breeds - Dalmatian" or "White Spotted Dog" or "Watchdogs - Dalmatian" etc.. Success for very popular one-two word keywords is very difficult and often not worth the trouble, it's best to focus on less competitive highly specific words. You can use Google keywords suggestion tool to do this.

Also, the larger the image, the better it will rank. Why? Because larger images have more pixels and will be of a higher quality than smaller ones which will appear more grainy. This works in the “providing the best user experience” as opposed to being a hard and fast SEO based rule as higher quality images are downloaded/shared more often and are preferred by people, so Google wants to serve only the highest quality/size images first and foremost in response to a search query. Recommended min. 320 pixels, max. 1280 pixels.

Descriptions more complete and clear, better the image will be ranked. Also you have to take care of various factors before uploading your images:

  1. Image size (see above)
  2. Format ratio. For the best ranking results you should use “normal” formats: square, 4:3 or up to 16:10. Extreme portrait or landscape formats, however, rank usually bad.
  3. File name: very important for a successful image-optimization is the file name. Most times a picture can only be found on keyword-phrases that a in the filename (e.g. black-dog.jpg). It makes sense to use more than one term in the filename (e.g. “black-dog-with-red-collar.jpg”). This gives it the chance to rank with “black dog” or “red collar” or “dog with collar” or “red dog” and so on… However, you should not spam the filename: more than 4-6 words are inappropriate. And of course the name should be a kind of description of what can be seen on the picture.
  4. Include a Copyright notice in your file metadata before the upload. When it is indexed by Google and someone has done some copies without permission its too late
  5. Originality, uniqueness of your picture is a very important factor of Google ranking.
After upload images will be crawled in a few days. They appear in the image search after about 2-7 days (this may change). They should be sorted in between position 50 and 150.  Well-optimized images “move” slowly upward. Good images will climb up after nearly 6 months in the top 18 – visual first page. The best places on page 1 are ultimately decided by fine-tuning which is not generalizable.
